Born into the world to imperfect parents
Life was great for the first few years
But then disaster struck and your life seemed hopeless
And you crawled away to protect yourself

You got into the wrong things as a youth
Did some things you knew you'd regret
but didn't care enough for yourself to say no
Just did what you felt was the cool thing to do

Closed yourself up even more to despair
Hiding away from social interaction
So nobody can see that you feel weak
Can't maintain the facade of confidence any longer

You feel defeated, dejected and rejected
You feel like there's nothing worth living for
You feel like giving it all away
Not that you haven't already done that in the past

One day you see a glimmer of hope
You go to a church, and get saved
Everything seems so nice to you now
And your past seems so far away

But slowly the feeling of power fades
And life begins to defeat you all over again
You feel betrayed by God for letting bad things happen
And you feel betrayed by yourself for doing what you know is the wrong thing

But hold on for another day
Hold on to love and see God for who He really is
He never lets go of your hand
he never leaves you or forsakes you

Keep running that race for Jesus
Keep living life the best way you know how
Hold your head high and keep your eyes on the goal
Don't give up and never slow down

Keep running that race so that you can finish life well
Do what you have too to see souls saved
Jesus believes in you
All you have to do now is believe in yourself.
